After finishing school, Justin found himself immersed in the world of building materials at his local timber yard. Interacting with customers of all kinds — from wide-eyed apprentices to experienced site supervisors — taught him invaluable lessons about problem-solving, communication, and the building industry itself.
“Those years were like a masterclass in understanding people and construction,” Justin says. They also ignited his passion for hands-on craftsmanship, leading him to complete his carpentry apprenticeship and, ultimately, a career as a builder.

“Working at the timber yard was an eye opener,” Justin remembers. “I would overhear builders complaining about their customers. Like their customers were “the enemy”. And it was an “us versus them” scenario.”
